2021
The 2021 edition features over 450 original works from over 150 artists working from 35 countries!
Among this enormous range of highly compelling work, Miniprint Kazanlak was pleased to award the First Prize in Classical Printmaking to Hui Ju Chang (Taiwan), and the First Prize in Experimental Printmaking to Agata Dworzak-Subocz (Poland).
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the 2021 international jury comprised of Christiaan Diedericks (South Africa), Eric Mummery (Canada) and Peter Boyadjieff (Bulgaria). Their commitment and contribution has allowed for a wide selection of varied and engaging work to take part in this edition, further corroborating the Contemporary Miniprint of Kazanlak’s ambition to continue to act as a forum for discussion and collaborative exchange between artists and art lovers for years to come!

Eric Mummery
Canada
Canadian visual artist, printmaker, and committee member of Print London, a group of professional artist printmakers who share a passion for printmaking. His current art practice is focused on a series of wood engravings exploring intuitive image creation as a means to better understand mental health issues. Eric studied printmaking at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (2010) His prints have been shown in juried and invitational exhibitions in Canada, the US, Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Serbia, France and most recently as part of a group of Canadian printmaker in the Taoyuan International Print Exhibition in Taiwan.

Christiaan Diedericks
South Africa
Fine Arts Cum Laude graduate from the North West University (NWU), Christiaan Diedericks has created an impressive body of work over the years. He completed his master’s degree in fine arts with distinction for the practical component at the University of Pretoria in 2000. Diedericks also holds a BSc degree from the University of the North West (1986).
Diedericks has exhibited extensively throughout Southern Africa, as well as internationally. His work has been exhibited in the USA, China, Croatia, Japan, Finland, Argentina, Tanzania, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Belgium, England, Sweden, South Korea, and France, where he worked, as artist in residence, at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris on nine different occasions since 1994. In August and September 2020 Christiaan will complete his tenth residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris (the latter was postponed to 2023 due to the Covid-19 pandemic).
Diedericks has also lived and worked in New York after receiving the prestigious Ampersand Foundation Fellowship in 2006 where his work was exhibited at the gallery 5+5 in Brooklyn to critical acclaim in the New York Blade newspaper, in December 2007. Diedericks, amongst his many achievements, has been awarded more than thirty artist’s residencies and sojourns to date (e.g., Frans Masereel Centrum, Belgium; The Halka Art Project, Istanbul, Turkey; The Venice Print Studio for large format printmaking, Italy; the Il Bisonte Printmaking Studio in Florence, Italy, the London Print Studio and the Guanlan Print Base in Shenzhen, China). The artist travels extensively, sometimes up to three times per year. Diedericks regularly show his work on international printmaking biennials. In 2015 he featured on the Beijing Biennial in China and in 2017 Christiaan represented South Africa at the 4th International Silkroads Art Festival in Xi’an, China. The artist’s work is in a vast amount of national and international collections – in the collection of MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in NYC, USA to name only one.
Peter Boyadjieff
Bulgaria
Peter Boyadjieff is an artist born in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. He holds a Masters in Visual Arts and Design at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria (1983) with additional specialization in computer graphics, at the I.C.A.R.I. Institute in Montreal, Canada (2000). His allegorical images combine physical realism and poetic imagery in order to critically engage the viewer and convey powerful ideas in a broader cultural context.
His work has been awarded many prestigious international awards, among which the First Prize at the 27e Salon du Printemps in 2012 (Canada), Highly Commended Artist award at the 8th British International Print exhibition in 2012 (UK), Gold Awards Winner in B&W Magazine in 2009 (USA), Honorary Mention at the International Art Miniature of Vieux-Lévis (Canada), First Prize and Invited Artist at the 28th Miniprint International of Cadaques in 2008 (Spain), an Honorable Mention at the 4th Muestra International de Miniprint de Rosario in 2008 (Argentina) and the 2007 Grand Prize at the 2007 International Digital Miniprint Bravo Est in Ottawa (Canada). His work has also been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
He was also a featured artist for the 2015 Art Venice Biennale in the ”Biennale Roadshow” (Italy), as well as a selected artist for Canada’s cultural program “The Living City” at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai (China).
